Sperm

Has anyone ever thought, before the Quran was revealed, that man’s nutfa, when ejected, is responsible for determining if the embryo will be male or female? Has this ever occurred to one’s mind? The Quran says;

“That He created the pairs, male and female, from a fluid-drop sperm as it is emitted.” (Quran 53: 45-46), confirming that man’s gender as male or female is determined when the sperm drop is emitted. Who told the Prophet Mohammed that the sperm (nutfa) with one of its types (Y) or (X) is responsible for determining the sex of the embryo?

History of embryology

The theory of the full dwarf embryo existing in man’s sperm or full dwarf embryo created out of the woman’s menstrual blood coagulation remained the dominant theory of embryo creation till 18th century.

On the other hand the holy Quran since the 6th century has described in full and accurate details the stages of embryo development which have been confirmed scientifically throughout the last century.

"Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.* Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah , the best of creators.." (Quran 23:13-14)

Sperm fertilizing egg

While hundred millions of these sperms (500 m.- 600 m.) enter through the vagina to the uterine cervix, only one sperm is able to fertilize the ovum.

Allah says

“He It is Who created all things in the best way and began the creation of man from clay, and made his progeny from an extract of despised fluid (Sulalah)” (Quran 32: 7-8)

The meaning of Sulalah is "extract", means the essential or best part of something. By either implication, it means "part of a whole" indicating that the origin of creation is from only part of man's fluid and not all of it.

Zygote

Allah says:

“Verily We created man of a fluid-drop (nutfa), mingling (amshaj), in order to try him: so We gave him (the gifts of) hearing and sight.” (Quran 76:2).

The mingled nutfa in this verse reveals the Quran miraculous nature. Nutfa, in Arabic, is a single small drop of water, but it was described here as (amshaj) , which means its structure consists of combined mixtures . This fits with the scientific finding, as the zygote is shaped as a drop, and is simultaneously a mixture of male fluid chromosomes and female ovum

Alaqah (Leech)

"Then We made the drop into "alaqah" a leech-like structure." (Quran 23:14)

The word "alaqah" refers to a leech or bloodsucker. This is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24 when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus, in the same way that a leech clings to the skin. Just as the leech derives blood from the host, the human embryo derives blood from the decidua or pregnant endometrium. It is remarkable how much the embryo of 23-24 days resembles a leech.

Mudgha

"Then of that leech-like structure, We made "mudghah" a chewed lump." (Quran 23:14)

This statement is also from Sura 23:14. The Arabic word "mudghah" means "chewed substance or chewed lump." Toward the end of the fourth week, the human embryo looks somewhat like a chewed lump of flesh. The chewed appearance results from the somites which resemble teeth marks. The somites represent the beginnings or primordia of the vertebrae.

Universe beginning

Astrophysics: Before the Big Bang, there was no such thing. There was a condition of non-existence in which neither matter, nor energy, nor even time existed, so it can only be described metaphysically, matter, energy, and time were all created.

In Quran: There was nonexistence until God (Allah) has created heavens and earth.

(All the praises and thanks are to Allâh, the (only) Originator (or the (only) Creator) of the heavens and the earth). (Quran 35:1)

Fatq Al-ratq

Astrophysics: the term Big Bang generally refers to the idea that the universe has expanded from a primordial hot and dense initial condition at some finite time in the past, and continues to expand to this day.

In Quran:

The heavens and the earth "whole Universes" were created from one thing where all matter and energy squeezed into a tiny volume called by The Glorious Qur’an Ratq.

These original contents was joined together (Ratq) and the trigger of the creation start with Instantaneous cleft called by The Glorious Qur’an Fatq

(Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?). (Quran 21:30)

Universal smoke

Astrophysics: At one point in time, the whole universe was nothing but a cloud of ‘smoke’ (i.e. an opaque highly dense and hot gaseous composition). Dr. Loretta Dunne from Cardiff University, who led A team of UK astronomers says: "Cosmic dust consists of tiny particles of solid material floating around in the space between the stars. It is not the same as house dust but more akin to cigarette smoke."

In Quran:

What is the state of matter in the early universe? The answer from The Glorious Quran is Dokhan (smoke). The Glorious Qur’an precedes recent Astronomers since more than 1400 years ago when mentioned that the Dokhan (smoke) was dominating the early sky.

(Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to earth: "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly" They said: "we do come (together) in willing obedience). (Quran 41: 11-12)

Expanding Universe

Astrophysics: Observations of distant galaxies and quasars show that these objects are redshifted which means that the universe is uniformly expanding everywhere.

In Quran

An expanding Universe does not mean that everything in the Universe is growing in size. The galaxies are only moving away from each other! (Michael S. Turner & Craig Wiegert). The best words to explain this are mentioned in Quran (Enna lamosoon (create the vastness of the sky)).

(And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.). (Quran 51:47)

Cosmic Web

Astrophysics: After the Big Bang there were density fluctuations (Dr. Smoot [Noble Prize 2006] Called it Ripples) which seeded the development of large structure as The galaxies of our universe are arranged into filaments of clusters and super clusters woven into the cosmic web.

In Quran

(By the sky with (its) HOBOK numerous paths). (Quran 51:6)

Quran mentions that sky has what is called in Arabic "HOBOK" which has several meanings all of them describe the facts mentioned above.

a- Hobok are the filaments when they are woven firmly in a fabric (web).

b- Hobok are what you see in surface of the sand by the effect of light wind, which we now define as ripple marks.

c- Hobok are the surface features in stagnant water resulted from the passing of quite air through water.

d- Hobok are the breaking (rippling) every thing even the uneven hair.

e- Architecture with stars, the galaxy and paths of stars.
